Dion focuses her practice on all aspects of business formation, growth, and development, relying on her years of litigation experience to uniquely counsel start-up businesses on the risks and opportunities they face as they launch and grow their companies.
Dion provides creative and effective solutions to the complex issues faced by emerging businesses across a range of industries. Her approach is comprehensive -- she considers each client's unique goals, management style, capital structure, and risk tolerance in order to make sure that each solution is designed to match the varied circumstances each client confronts. Specifically, Dion helps clients create new entities as well as obtain the necessary registrations, business licenses, and local permits. In addition, Dion structures and documents executive compensation and employee benefit programs, and negotiates and executes various types of contracts, including loans, security agreements, buy-sell agreements, and commercial distribution contracts.
Prior to joining S+W, Dion spent several years litigating disputes in the areas of bad faith, wrongful termination, professional malpractice, personal injury, and construction liability. This wealth of business litigation experience provides her with a unique capacity to quickly
understand and explain the risks and benefits associated with the execution of contracts, negotiations, reorganizations and other
business transactions.
Dion received her undergraduate degree from Lewis & Clark College, and a Masters in Political Theory along with her J.D. from the
University of Colorado. While in law school, she served on the University of Colorado Law Review and was the lead student coordinator for the Silicon Flatirons program, a program devoted to encouraging entrepreneurship, as well as examining the legal and regulatory reforms necessary to promote technological industries. After law school, Dion served as a law clerk to the Honorable Joseph. E. Meyer III in Colorado's 2nd Judicial District.
